US Cash Grains-Corn, soybean basis mixed amid slow sales

CHICAGO, April 2 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for corn and soybeans were mixed in the U.S. Midwest on Wednesday as farmer selling remained slow and market players awaited U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of tariffs later in the day on Wednesday.

The corn basis ticked down at an Ohio elevator and rose at a Nebraska elevator.

The soy basis fell at an Ohio elevator and at an Illinois river terminal.

Trump is expected to impose sweeping new reciprocal tariffs on global trading partners at 4 p.m. Eastern Time (2000 GMT).

The move would likely cause cost increases and draw retaliation against U.S. goods.

CBOT May corn CK25 was last down 4 cents to $4.57-3/4 a bushel while May soybeans SK25 were down 4-1/2 cents to $10.30 a bushel.
