- Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures rose on Monday as the U.S. Department of Agriculture said U.S. farmers plan to plant fewer acres of wheat in 2025 than analysts had expected.

  • CBOT May soft red winter wheat WK25 settled up 8-3/4 cents at $5.37 a bushel.

  • K.C. May hard red winter wheat KWK25 ended up 5-1/4 cents at $5.57 per bushel.

  • Minneapolis May spring wheat MWEK25 rose 11 cents to finish at $5.92 a bushel.

  • The USDA projected all U.S. wheat plantings would fall to 45.350 million acres, down from 46.079 million in 2024, led by a 6% drop in spring wheat seedings to the lowest since 1970.

  • In contrast, analysts polled by Reuters had expected all wheat plantings to rise to 46.475 million acres.
