CHICAGO, March 31 (Reuters) - Following are U.S. expectations for the resumption of grain and soy complex trading at the Chicago Board of Trade at 8:30 a.m. CDT (1330 GMT) on Monday.
NOTE: The U.S. Department of Agriculture is scheduled to release its U.S. planting intentions and quarterly grain stocks reports at 11 a.m. CDT (1600 GMT).
WHEAT - Steady to down 1 cent per bushel
Wheat futures seen steady to weaker ahead of the USDA's planting and stocks reports but the benchmark May contract WK25 held above a life-of-contract low set last week. Weekend storms brought welcome moisture to parts of the U.S. Plains wheat belt.
Argus Media cut its forecast for Russian 2025/26 wheat production to 80.3 million metric tons from 81.5 million in November, saying reduced prospects for spring wheat outweighed improved winter wheat conditions.
CBOT May soft red winter wheat WK25 was last down 1/2 cent at $5.27-3/4 per bushel. K.C. May hard red winter wheat KWK25 was last down 1-3/4 cents at $5.50 a bushel while Minneapolis May spring wheat MWEK25 was last up 1/4 cent at $5.81-1/4 per bushel.
CORN - Steady to down 1 cent per bushel
Corn futures turned lower ahead of the daily pause in trade as market players await the USDA's planting intentions and quarterly stocks reports. Analysts surveyed by Reuters on average expect the government to project U.S. corn plantings at 94.361 million acres with corn this year, up from 90.6 million in 2024.
Traders also await information on broad tariffs promised by U.S. President Donald Trump from April 2, as well as proposed U.S. port fees on Chinese-built vessels.
CBOT May corn CK25 was last down 1 cent at $4.52-1/4 per bushel.
SOYBEANS - Up 3 to 4 cents per bushel
Soybeans futures head higher for a third straight trading session as brokers adjust positions ahead of the USDA's plantings and quarterly stocks reports.
Brazil's soybean harvest reached 82% of the planted area as of last Thursday, agribusiness consultancy AgRural said, up 5 percentage points from the previous week.
CBOT May soybeans SK25 were last up 4-1/4 cents at $10.27-1/4 per bushel.
