CHICAGO, March 27 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for corn and soybeans were mostly unchanged in the U.S. Midwest on Thursday as futures seesawed and market players awaited Monday's U.S. Department of Agriculture report, dealers said.
The corn basis ticked down at an Ohio rail terminal.
Corn and soybean basis bids were steady elsewhere, spot checks showed.
Corn and soy bids rose earlier in the week as buyers sought to entice selling from farmers who have been busy with spring planting preparations, dealers said.
Grain markets were looking ahead to Monday's U.S. planting and stocks data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, as well as seeking greater clarity on broad tariffs promised by U.S. President Donald Trump from April 2.
U.S. farmers will plant 94.361 million acres with corn this year, up from 90.594 million in 2024, according to an average of analysts polled by Reuters before the USDA report.
Chicago Board of Trade May corn futures CK25 settled down 1-1/2 cents at $4.50, having earlier dropped to its lowest since March 4. May soybeans SK25 settled up 15-3/4 cents to $10.16-3/4 per bushel, after earlier touching the highest price since March 18.
