Panama president calls on First Quantum to halt tours of closed copper mine

PANAMA CITY, March 27 (Reuters) - Panama's President Jose Raul Mulino on Thursday said First Quantum Minerals should not offer public tours of its shuttered copper mine in the country, because there should be no impression that the site is operating.
He added there had been no discussion with the company or further progress on resolving the issue of the mine, which the government had ordered to close in late 2023 following public protests.
