- Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney will travel to Paris, London and Iqaluit next week in order to "strengthen" his nation's relationship with its closest allies and to reaffirm its Arctic security, his office said in a statement on Saturday.

"My visit to France and the United Kingdom will strengthen trade, commercial, and defence ties with two of our strongest and most reliable partners, and my visit to Nunavut will be an opportunity to bolster Canada's Arctic sovereignty and security," he said in the statement.

Carney was sworn in as prime minister of Canada on Friday.
