US EPA to reconsider Biden clean power plant rule

ReutersMar 12, 2025 5:52 PM

- The Environmental Protection Agency announced on Wednesday it plans to reconsider a Biden administration regulation that sought to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from power plants, part of the new administration's broader efforts to unwind regulations for the power sector.

The move comes as EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin announced several steps aimed at undoing regulations enacted under the Biden administration that President Donald Trump has said burden U.S. industry.

"In reconsidering the Biden-Harris rule that ran afoul of Supreme Court case law, we are seeking to ensure that the agency follows the rule of law while providing all Americans with access to reliable and affordable energy,” Zeldin said.
