Trump, referring to tariffs, says US 'had to do this'

WASHINGTON, March 11 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he "had to do this," with respect to his decision to hike tariffs on U.S. imports, and that markets are going to swing up and down over time.
He made the comments at the White House to reporters, saying the policies were needed in order to get American jobs back and factories open.
