US Cash Grains-Corn basis flat; some soy bids roll to March futures

CHICAGO, Dec 30 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for corn and soybeans held steady at U.S. Midwest grain elevators and processing sites on Monday in thin trade between the Christmas and New Year's holidays, spot checks showed.

* Some locations have rolled their soybean basis to the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) March soybean futures contract SH25 as the January contract SF25 nears its delivery phase and Jan. 14 expiration.

* On the CBOT, March corn futures CH25 turned lower in profit-taking after the contract notched a six-month high in early trading at $4.58-1/2 a bushel.

* CBOT March soybean futures SH25 also retreated and were down 1/4 cent at $9.89-1/2 a bushel in late-session trade after briefly pushing above $10 for the first time since mid-December. GRA/

* U.S. markets and most businesses will be closed on Wednesday for the New Year's Day holiday.
