Canada's main stock index opened lower on Monday as U.S. President Donald Trump's rejection of Iran's response to a peace proposal left investors worrying that the 10-week-old conflict will drag on.

At 9:30 a.m. ET, the Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was down 0.07% at 34,052.67 points.
