BIG WEEK FOR US EARNINGS AHEAD
Investors are preparing for a big week of results from U.S. companies, with more than one-third of the S&P 500 set to post results next week alone, including five of the "Magnificent Seven" megacap companies.
Among them will be Microsoft MSFT.O, Alphabet GOOGL.O, Amazon AMZN.O and Meta Platforms META.O, all due to report on Wednesday. Then Apple AAPL.O reports on Thursday.
That could possibly support the recent rebound in stocks, some investors say.
Earnings so far in this first-quarter reporting period have been strong. With results in from 139 of the S&P 500 companies as of Friday, year-over-year estimated earnings growth is at 16.1% for the S&P 500, according to Tajinder Dhillon, head of earnings research at LSEG. That compares with 14.4% as of April 1.
And about 81% of reports are beating analyst earnings expectations, Dhillon says.
