US STOCKS LOWER AS US-IRAN CEASEFIRE DEAL CALLED INTO QUESTION
Major U.S. stock indexes are lower in early trading on Thursday, with Israeli attacks against Lebanon putting the recent U.S.-Iran ceasefire agreement into doubt.
At the same time, there was no sign Iran was lifting its near-total blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which has disrupted global energy supplies, and Tehran said there would be no deal as long as Israel was striking Lebanon.
S&P 500 technology stocks .SPLRCT led decliners on the S&P 500, and software stocks were down, with the iShares Expanded Tech-Software ETF IGV.N falling about 3%.
On the flip side, Amazon.com AMZN.O shares are gaining as its CEO said AI services at its cloud-computing unit were generating annualized revenue of more than $1.5 billion.
