Europe before the bell: futures mixed after huge jump on Iran truce
European equity futures are pointing to a mixed start for the major bourses on Thursday, a day after a huge rally following the U.S.-Iran ceasefire.
Euro STOXX 50 futures STXEc1 are down about 0.1% after the index rose almost 5% on Wednesday, its biggest one-day jump since March 2022.
Futures on the DAX FDXc1 and CAC FCEc1 are a touch softer after yesterday's big rally, while FTSE futures FFIc1 are inching higher.
Focus remains on whether the ceasefire can hold and whether it would lead to more lasting peace talks. Iran said it would be unreasonable to proceed with discussions with the U.S., following Israeli attacks in Lebanon.
Meanwhile, the Strait of Hormuz remained shut to vessels sailing without a permit and shippers said they needed more clarity before resuming transit.
That has helped crude prices on Thursday, with WTI CLc1 and Brent futures LCOc1 both up over 2%.
