March 24 (Reuters) - Indian shares opened higher on Tuesday tracking gains in broader Asian peers, after U.S. President Donald Trump postponed the bombing of Iran's power grid, allaying fears of a deeper energy shock.
The Nifty 50 .NSEI rose 1.23% to 22,789.55, while the BSE Sensex .BSESN added 1.17% to 73,555.52, as of 9:20 a.m. IST.
All 16 major sectors logged gains at the open. The broader small-caps .NIFSMCP100 and mid-caps .NIFMDCP100 added 1.6% each.
Trump said on Monday that he had ordered the military to postpone strikes against Iranian power plants following "productive conversations" with Tehran.
However, Iran's Parliamentary Speaker posted on social media that no talks had been held with the U.S., contradicting Trump's announcement.
