
Feb 5 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index opened sharply lower on Thursday as sharp precious-metals-led declines pressured mining stocks, while investors assessed a new batch of Wall Street tech earnings and weighed Alphabet's ambitious spending plans.
At 9:31 a.m. ET, the S&P/TSX Composite Index .GSPTSE was down 1.07% at 32,222.99 points.
