TELECOMS SHINE AS SOFTWARE STRUGGLES, FTSE AT NEW RECORD
European shares eked out small gains in morning trading on Wednesday, as a rally in telecoms .SX7P to an 8-year high and gains in some consumer staples offset struggling software plays and a shock warning from healthcare heavyweight Novo Nordisk NOVOb.CO.
The region wide STOXX 600 index .STOXX was last up just 0.09%, while London's FTSE 100 .FTSE raced ahead, up 1% to a new record high. The DAX .GDAXI in Frankfurt fell 0.2%, dragged by software firm SAP SAPG.DE hitting new lows.
