EUROPEAN STOCKS JUMP, MINERS LEAD ON GOLD BOUNCE
A rise in miners has helped push the STOXX 600 .STOXX to a new record on Tuesday, as precious metals bounced following a two-day slide.
The pan-European benchmark is up 0.7% to a new high of 622.67 points. Breadth is positive, with rising stocks outnumbering falling shares by about 2 to 1.
Miners .SXPP lead the way higher as precious metals have bounced. Gold is up over 5%, a rise of over 11% from Monday's lows. Silver trades 10% higher on Tuesday.
Defence stocks .SXPARO and banks .SX7P are also among top sector gainers.
Media shares .SXMP lag as Publicis PUBP.PA shares have fallen despite what appear to be strong results, as Citi notes that expectations for the sector are high.
"The bar for performance is high in the Media sector and management’s confidence in FY26E delivery and whether there is upside risk to consensus will be a key factor in how the update is perceived," they write.
