Community lender Northfield Bancorp's NFBK.O shares jump 9.3% to $13.46
Larger rival Columbia Financial CLBK.O will buy NFBK in a $597 million cash-and-stock deal
Deal will create a combined lender with $18 billion in total assets and the third largest regional bank headquartered in New Jersey, the companies say
Founded in 1887, NFBK operates 37 full-service banking offices and had $5.75 billion assets at the end of 2025
CLBK anticipates 50% boost to 2027 earnings per share from acquisition
Transaction expected to be completed early in third quarter of 2026
