Shares of AI chip designer Nvidia NVDA.O up 1.7% at $188.05 premarket
Chinese officials have told Alibaba 9988.HK, Tencent 0700.HK and ByteDance they can prepare orders for Nvidia's H200 AI chips, suggesting Beijing is close to formally approving imports of components essential to running artificial intelligence, Bloomberg News reports, citing people familiar with the matter
The companies are now cleared to discuss specifics such as the amounts they would require, report says
