STOXX, FTSE HITS NEW PEAKS
Mild gains at the open on Wednesday lifted major indices, with the STOXX 600 .STOXX and the FTSE 100 .FTSE hitting fresh highs as traders brushed aside geopolitical tensions and concerns over the Fed's independence.
Both benchmarks were up about 0.3%, supported by strength in pharma, banks, and miners. Meanwhile, Frankfurt's DAX .GDAXI eased 0.1%, pausing after an 11-session winning streak - its longest run since 2014.
