BROAD GAINS PUSH STOXX HIGHER, IBEX HITS NEW PEAK
European shares kicked off the final full week of 2025 with broad-based gains, as positive signs across all sectors - except healthcare — drove the STOXX 600 .STOXX up 0.6% and equity volatility .V2TX stayed near Friday's one-year low.
Banks .SX7P and Basic Resources .SXPP were the biggest sectoral gainers, both up by over 1%, while healthcare .SXDP fell 0.6%. 73% of STOXX constituents were trading in the black.
The IBEX .IBEX in Madrid stood out once again, with a fresh record high that set the bank-heavy index for an annual gain of over 46%, its strongest year since 1993.
The STOXX is up about 14% so far in 2025, while in London, the FTSE 100 .FTSE has gained 18%, its best year since 2009.
