AUTOS DRIVE STOXX HIGHER
European shares got off to a slightly higher start on Thursday with autos .SXAP leading sectoral gains, up over 2%, after U.S. President Donald Trump proposed slashing fuel economy standards, offering some relief to the battered sector.
The region-wide STOXX 600 .STOXX edged up 0.3%, also supported by broad gains across industrials .SXNP and tech stocks .SX8P, helped by improving risk sentiment.
Utilities .SX6P lagged, down 0.6%. Philips PHG.AS was a big faller, down over 8% after management tempered growth expectations and flagged tariff headwinds at a Citi conference.
In London, the FTSE 100 .FTSE was unchanged.
