STOXX UP, VOLATILITY DOWN
It's a day to be a London-listed insurer with Admiral ADML.L up 7% and Aviva AV.L 3.5% both after solid results, the top and third-best performer in the Stoxx 600 on Thursday.
They're not alone, the broad index is up 0.25%, and, if it's not too soon to talk about weekly milestones early on Thursday, set for around a 1% gain on the week, as world markets continue to benefit from the positive mood in the U.S.
That optimism is engendering a sense of calm, and the Euro STOXX volatility index is down at 15.5, its lowest since February. .V2TX
Results are also the driver at the bottom of the table. Payments firm Adyen ADYEN.AS is the biggest faller, down 17% after it cut its annual revenue forecast citing the impact of U.S. tariffs on client growth.
German conglomerate Thyssenkrupp TKAG.DE is also pointing the finger at tariffs, after it cut its full-year sales outlook, sending its shares down 7%.
