LIVE MARKETS-European stocks hover around flat, defence names drag

EUROPEAN STOCKS HOVER AROUND FLAT, DEFENCE NAMES DRAG

Europe's STOXX 600 .STOXX is hovering around flat, with real estate .SX86P the best off sector, rising 0.6%, while aerospace and defence .SXPARO lags, down 1.1%.

Traders are focused on pending U.S.-China talks due to take place in London on Monday.

Sweden's SAAB SAABb.ST and Italy's Leonardo LDOF.MI are among falling defense names, down a respective 6.6% and 1.4%.

Among major indices, Germany's DAX .GDAXI is falling 0.4%, while France's CAC 40 .FCHI is down 0.1% and the UK's FTSE 100 .FTSE is flat.

British semiconductor company Alphawave AWE.L soared over 20% in early trade following news that U.S. semiconductor company Qualcomm has agreed to acquire it for about $2.4 billion.

Shares in British advertising firm WPP WPP.L are down 2% after the company said CEO Mark Read would retire from the company at the end of the year.

At the top of the index is Danish hearing solutions provider Demant DEMANT.CO, up 6.8%. Finnish residential real estate group Kojamo KOJAMO.HE follows, up 6.3% after saying on Friday it will sell properties to Apollo and Avant for 242 Million euros.

Elsewhere, Japan's government is considering buying back some super-long bonds it issued at low interest rates, two sources with direct knowledge of the plan said on Monday.
