STOXX 600 CONTINUES HIGHER AFTER EU TARIFF PAUSE
It's been a choppy start for European equity markets on Tuesday but most are now firmly in the green, extending on Monday's rise after Trump said his threatened 50% import tariffs on the EU would be on pause.
The STOXX 600 .STOXX is up 0.5% after a 1% rise the day before. Germany's DAX .GDAXI has hit a new record, up 0.5%, while France's CAC .FCHI is up 0.2%.
Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE is up 1% as it plays catch up, having been closed on Monday for a public holiday.
Aerospace and defence stocks .SXPARO are leading gainers, up 1.3% to a new lifetime peak after Trump said he was considering more sanctions on Russia, following lack of progress on a ceasefire in Ukraine and as Russia launched large-scale air attacks.
