May 23 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index opened lower on Friday, tracking global peers, amid renewed trade tensions sparked by U.S. President Donald Trump's recommendation of 50% tariffs on European Union imports.
At 9:31 a.m. ET (1331 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was down 0.44% at 25,740.25 points.
