BEFORE THE BELL: EUROPEAN FUTURES RALLY, PHARMA DOWN

European shares were set for a strong start on Monday, boosted by signs of progress in U.S.-China trade talks, though details were lacking.

EuroSTOXX 50, DAX and FTSE futures were last up between 0.3-0.9%, while Nasdaq futures gained 2.2% and S&P 500 contracts added 1.6%.

Pharma stocks however were set for a tougher ride after U.S. President Donald Trump said he would sign an executive order on reducing prescription drug and pharmaceutical prices.

Drugmaker stocks in Frankfurt were generally lower, tracking earlier losses among Asian peers.

In earnings, UniCredit strengthened its 2025 outlook after posting a surprise increase in Q1 profit. It said it would pursue deals only if they further improved its "unmatched standalone case".
