The outgoing CEO of French lender Credit Agricole, which holds 19.8% stake in Banco BPM, said on Wednesday it was too early to decide whether or not to agree to UniCredit's offer for the Italian rival. Philippe Brassac said in a post-results call that Credit Agricole would make a decision "in a few weeks' time."

The board of Italy's biggest bank on Tuesday handed CEO Carlo Messina a new three-year mandate in charge. The slate of board candidates put forward by Intesa's core investors secured 57.3% of votes at an annual general meeting, down from 76.5% in 2022. Messina has led Intesa since 2013.

Italy is pushing for an extraordinary shareholder meeting at the French-Italian chipmaker to vote on a candidate it wants to appoint to the supervisory board, two sources close to the matter said, as Rome seeks more influence over the company.

The Italian pharmaceutical company is looking at several potential M&A deals, CEO Bob Koremans said on Tuesday, presenting the company's 2025-2027 business plan.
