April 24 (Reuters) - India's benchmark indexes inched lower at the open on Thursday after logging gains in the previous seven sessions, with analysts expecting some consolidation near current levels as corporate earnings trickle in.
The Nifty 50 .NSEI was down 0.21% at 24,277.9 and the BSE Sensex .BSESN lost 0.07% to 80,058.43 as of 9:15 a.m. IST.
Eight of the 13 major sectors declined at the open. The broader, more domestically focussed small-caps .NIFSMCP100 and mid-caps .NIFMDCP100 traded flat.
Other Asian markets also declined on the day, with the MSCI Asia ex-Japan index .MIAPJ0000PUS shedding 0.7% as a global relief rally stuttered. MKTS/GLOB
Both the benchmark Nifty and Sensex logged gains in the last seven sessions and clocked their highest close so far this year in the previous session.
