Insurer AIG up after authorizing $7.5 billion buyback program
Shares of American International Group AIG.N rise 3.1% to $86.36 in early trading
AIG, one of the world's largest commercial insurers, authorizes repurchase of up to $7.5 billion of stock, effective April 1
Buyback program inclusive of ~$3.4 billion remaining under AIG's prior share repurchase authorization
Additionally, AIG at its investor day said it plans to boost its core operating return on equity - a key profitability metric - to as much as 13% by 2027
Last month, AIG said it was well on track to deliver 10% plus core operating return on equity in 2025
AIG stock up 18.4% YTD
