Shares of D-Wave Quantum QBTS.N jump in late morning trade on Weds after co says it has achieved 'quantum supremacy'

QBTS shares last up 9.5% at $5.89 after rising as high as $6.39 in the session

Palo Alto, California-based firm published peer-reviewed paper in the scientific journal Science on Weds, saying its quantum computer outperformed one of the world's most powerful classical supercomputers

Co claims its annealing quantum computer performed the most complex simulation in minutes and with a level of accuracy that would take nearly one million years using the supercomputer

"This is a remarkable day for quantum computing," CEO Alan Baratz said in the statement
