EUROPE BEFORE BELL: EARNINGS KEEP YOU BUSY

It's another morning where results are probably setting the tone for the European open, with big beasts Novo Nordisk and Alphabet the stand outs, unless you have a strong view on how to trade President Donald Trump's plan to resettle Palestinians and create a "Riviera of the Middle East" in Gaza.

Also in the political bucket is the U.S. Postal Service saying it will temporarily suspend parcels from China and Hong Kong, and a looming French vote of no confidence, though indications are Francois Bayrou's minority government should be OK.

Futures are down, though, on the back of collective disappointing results, with STOXX 50 futures off 0.5% and futures on most major European national benchmarks in the red.

The major earnings news is from Alphabet overnight, GOOGL.O who disappointed on revenue, and saw its shares fall in after-market trading. That looks to hold, as they're down around 7% in Frankfurt trading. ABEA.F

Meanwhile in Europe, Wegovy maker Novo Nordisk NOVOb.CO on Wednesday forecast slower sales growth for 2025 than 2024, though beat on sales and EBIT, with traders expecting a rise in its shares at the open.

As well, French oil major TotalEnergies TTEF.PA reported a 15% drop in fourth-quarter earnings, Denmark's Vestas VWS.CO, the world's biggest wind turbine maker, reported a higher-than-expected adjusted operating profit, Santander SAN.MC said its net profit rose 11%, Credit Agricole SA CAGR.PA, saw a 27% jump in profit, and GSK GSK.L forecast 2025 sales in 2025 to grow 3%-5%.

It'll be busy.
