Turkey - Factors To Watch on Jan 23

ISTANBUL, Jan 23 (Reuters) - Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Thursday.

The lira TRYTOM=D3 was quoted at 35.6590 against the U.S. dollar at 0406 GMT, after closing at 35.65 on Wednesday.

The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 closed 1.06% higher at 10,105.37 points on Wednesday.

GLOBAL MARKETS

Asia shares rose on Thursday, helped by a jump in their Chinese counterparts on Beijing's latest measures to shore up its crumbling stock market, while elsewhere, investors continued to have their eyes on U.S. President Donald Trump's policy plans.

ERDOGAN PROGRAMME

President Tayyip Erdogan will speak at the judicial reform strategy meeting (1100 GMT). Erdogan will then meet with the Rwanda's President Paul Kagame in Ankara. Two leaders will hold a joint news conference following bilateral discussions (1515 GMT).

CENTRAL BANK DECISION

Turkish central bank will announce its monetary policy rate decision TRINT=ECI. According to a Reuters poll, the central bank is expected to continue cutting rates with a 250 basis point policy rate cut to 45% (1100 GMT)

CENBANK DATA

The Central Bank will release its weekly money and banking statistics (1130 GMT).

CONSUMER CONFIDENCE TRCONC=ECI

The Turkish Statistics Institute will announce January consumer confidence index data (0700 GMT).

HOTEL FIRE

Turkey has detained eleven people, including local fire department officials and the owner of the hotel, in connection with a deadly fire that claimed the lives of at least 79 people and injured dozens at a ski resort in western Turkey.

TURKEY-U.S. RELATIONS

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed the importance of coordination on regional matters during a phone call, a Turkish foreign ministry source said on Wednesday.
