April 30 (Reuters) - Marlboro-maker Altria MO.N beat Wall Street expectations for first-quarter profit on Thursday, as higher prices and cost controls helped offset declining cigarette volumes and tougher competition in nicotine products.

Adjusted profit per share of $1.32 for the quarter beat estimates of $1.25, according to data compiled by LSEG.
