Japan's Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp to open new headquarters in North Carolina

NEW YORK, April 7 (Reuters) - Japan's Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, which already operates in New York, will open its second U.S. headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Japanese bank expects to create 2,000 jobs over the next six years
SMBC will invest $50 million in the expansion
The investment in the new U.S. hub was announced by governor Josh Stein
