Swiss prosecutors not involved with Paris probe at bank Edmond de Rothschild

- Swiss prosecutors said on Wednesday they are not currently involved with a case that led French authorities to search the Paris offices of Swiss bank Edmond de Rothschild as part of an inquiry into alleged corruption concerning a French diplomat.

French prosecutors said on Tuesday the Paris offices of the private bank were searched amid a probe into suspected corruption involving diplomat Fabrice Aidan, who was named in documents linked to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Aidan has denied wrongdoing. His lawyer did not respond to requests for comment on the raid.

Asked about the investigation, the Attorney General of Switzerland said in a statement that it is not currently involved in the matter.

A source close to the bank said on Tuesday that Edmond de Rothschild was cooperating fully with the justice system in the investigation led by the financial prosecutor, and that it launched an internal inquiry as soon as suspicions emerged concerning Aidan, who worked at the bank from 2014 to 2016.
