BRUSSELS, March 9 (Reuters) - Energy ministers of the Group of Seven countries will discuss on Tuesday the possibility of coordinated action to cushion the impact of the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran on oil prices, European Economic Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis said.
Speaking at a news conference after a meeting of euro zone finance ministers, Dombrovskis said the G7 - the United States, Canada, Japan, Britain, Italy, Germany and France -- were in agreement to coordinate their actions on oil, including the release of strategic oil reserves.
"There was a firm commitment from G7 finance ministers to coordinate positions, and we stand ready to take necessary measures such as stockpile release," Dombrovskis said.
"G7 energy ministers will take this discussion forward already tomorrow," he said.
Dombrovskis noted the policy implications of the price jump would depend on the duration, scope and intensity of the conflict in the Gulf region.
