China to boost tech breakthroughs over next five years, says parliament spokesman

BEIJING, March 4 (Reuters) - China aims to boost scientific innovation and breakthroughs in key core technologies across all fields over the next five years, said a parliamentary spokesperson on Wednesday ahead of the annual meeting of the National People's Congress (NPC).
China is expected to unveil its plans to advance the next phase of its technology race with the West in its Five-Year Plan for 2026-2030 due to be published on Thursday when the NPC meets in Beijing.
