Turkey's Erdogan tells NATO's Rutte diplomacy needed for regional peace

ANKARA, March 2 (Reuters) - Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan told NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in a phone call on Monday that diplomacy must be given an opportunity to achieve lasting and sustainable peace in the Middle East, the Turkish presidency said.
In a statement, the presidency added that Erdogan told Rutte that Ankara was closely following the conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States.
