LONDON, Feb 5 (Reuters) - British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on Thursday that he had no reason to doubt former U.S. ambassador Peter Mandelson's account of his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein prior to appointing Mandelson to the Washington position.
"I had no reason at that stage to think that was anything other than the truth, and therefore we proceeded," Starmer said, when asked what he would say to those who think he is not in a position to remain as prime minister.
