BERLIN, Jan 22 (Reuters) - Germany should engage in discussion with France about the latter's nuclear umbrella, Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil told the Spiegel news outlet on Thursday.
"France has offered to make the French nuclear umbrella more effective for European security," said Klingbeil, who is also Germany's finance minister, while also emphasizing that he is not questioning the nuclear deterrence provided by NATO.
"Such a strategic dialogue between Germany and France is appropriate in these times," he added.
"We should engage in this discussion."
