US approves possible sale of equipment, services to improve Peru's Callao Naval Base

Jan 15 (Reuters) - The U.S. State Department has approved the potential sale to Peru of equipment and services to support the procurement of maritime and onshore facilities at the Callao Naval Base for an estimated $1.5 billion, the Pentagon said in a statement on Thursday.
The principal contractors project will be chosen at a later date from a list of approved vendors, likely through a competitive process, the Pentagon said.
