WASHINGTON, Jan 15 (Reuters) - The White House said on Thursday that a meeting between U.S. officials and representatives from Denmark and Greenland had been productive and warned sending European troops to Greenland would not affect President Donald Trump's thinking about the territory.
Trump, a Republican, has said Greenland should belong to the United States and has not ruled out taking it by force.
"I don't think troops in Europe impact the president's decision-making process, nor does it impact his goal of the acquisition of Greenland at all," White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt told a briefing.
