CAIRO, Jan 6 (Reuters) - Israel reiterated its commitment to promoting regional stability and security during renewed talks with Syrian counterparts, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said on Tuesday.
It said Israel also discussed the necessity of advancing economic cooperation with Syria during the U.S.-mediated talks.
Syria seeks a withdrawal of Israeli troops from territory seized after the fall of Bashar al-Assad, and wants a reciprocal security framework guaranteeing its sovereignty. Israel has hinged any deal on terms safeguarding its security interests, including demilitarisation of parts of southwestern Syria.
