EU will protect freedom of speech, EU's von der Leyen says after US visa ban

BRUSSELS, Dec 24 (Reuters) - The European Union will keep protecting freedom of speech, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Tuesday after the U.S. imposed a travel ban on five European citizens, including former EU Commissioner Thierry Breton.
"Freedom of speech is the foundation of our strong and vibrant European democracy. We are proud of it. We will protect it," she said on social media platform X.
