TOKYO, Oct 10 (Reuters) - Japan's top tariff negotiator Ryosei Akazawa and U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick reconfirmed that the U.S.-Japan trade agreement will further strengthen the two nations' alliances and economic growth, Tokyo said on Friday.
Akazawa and Lutnick held a 60-minute phone call from 8 a.m. local time (2300 GMT Thursday), Japan's Cabinet Secretariat said in a communication.
Akazawa is expected to leave his cabinet post when Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba is set to step down later this month, local media have reported.
