German defence minister urges EU to ease defence industry regulation
WARSAW, Sept 29 (Reuters) - After a weekend of intensive Russian bombardment of Ukraine, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius on Monday called for the European Union to provide a much more flexible regulatory framework for the defence industry in Europe.
"We all have to provide sustainable support to Ukraine, more resiliently and forcefully than in recent months," Pistorius said at the Warsaw Security Forum.
Europe's and Ukraine's defence industry must work together more closely and effectively, and the European Union must back this by providing a much more flexible regulatory framework for the defence industry in Europe.
Pistorius also said NATO must become more European in order to remain transatlantic. "This is what it takes for our continent to be whole, free, and at peace."
