- England beat Canada 33-13 to claim the Women's Rugby World Cup for the third time on Saturday, in front of a record crowd of 81,885 at Twickenham.

Tries from Ellie Kildunne, Amy Cokayne, Alex Matthews (2) and Abbie Ward ensured there would be no repeat of the side's defeat in the 2022 final against New Zealand, the last game the Red Roses lost.

Canadian winger Asia Hogan-Rochester struck after five minutes to set nerves jangling among home fans, but their talisman Kildunne sliced through the Canadian defence moments later.

England built up to a 26-8 lead and appeared to be cruising, before a yellow card for prop Hannah Botterman triggered a Canada revival in the second half as Hogan-Rochester crossed for a second score to stoke fears of a Red Roses collapse.

Matthews, however, scored her second of the game as England's dominant pack helped them to close out the game and spark off the celebrations among the biggest crowd a women's rugby game has ever seen.
