Iran's Araqchi: E3,US bear responsibility for failure of nuclear diplomacy
UNITED NATIONS, Sept 26 (Reuters) - Iran said on Friday that three European powers and the United States bore full responsibility for "the serious consequences" of failure to delay the return of United Nations sanctions on Tehran.
A Russian and Chinese push on Friday to delay the revival of the international sanctions on Iran failed at the 15-member U.N. Security Council after only four countries supported their draft resolution, opening the door for the reimposition of sanctions.
"By ignoring facts, spreading false claims, misrepresenting Iran’s peaceful program, and blocking diplomacy, they have actively and intently paved the way for a dangerous escalation", Araqchi told United Nations Security Council.
