Future of US funding for Haiti mission unclear if resolution rejected, official says

Sept 24 (Reuters) - A top U.S. official in Haiti said on Wednesday that continued U.S. funding for the U.N.-backed security force in Haiti would not be guaranteed should the Security Council reject its proposal to transition it into a larger mission.

"The U.S. provision of support for the MSS (Multinational Security Support mission) and what we have been providing will expire at the end of December," U.S. charge d'affaires in Haiti Henry Wooster told reporters, stipulating that decisions on future funding were yet to be made.
